September 26, 2016 - Service Project and Teleferico, Part 2

September 26, 2016 - Service Project and Teleferico, Part 2

Jacob sent so many pictures this week that I had to break it up into two posts.  For the first half, go to: http://elderwolfinargentina.blogspot.com/2016/09/september-26-2016-service-project-and_27.html

This week we worked a lot, we tried to contact more of our referencias (referrals) and it went well, we had a lot of hope for Sunday, but not a lot of people showed up. We did divisions (splits) and I went with some jovenes (youth). We found a family and they gave us a pizza, haha.

This week I ate a sandwich and I think it made me feel sick because I had a fever and I was so sad. I didn’t feel like eating and my body ached all over. We had one of the best lunches with one of the best families and I didn’t eat and because of that I was super sad, haha. This was yesterday and I got better really fast it was just for the evening and then today I felt fine. What a blessing.

I’m learning a lot from Elder Rudder, and we get a long pretty well.

We had a service project this week and we picked up trash. It was pretty fun actually.

Also this P-day we went up the teleferico (cableway), one of the things I wanted to do in Salta. I don’t know if I will be in Salta still in one week because we have transfers in one week.

That’s about it for the week

Much love!

We made a cake for Elder Ellis who is about to finish his mission. He is our zone leader from Colorado and is super awesome. He did divisions (splits) with us and was in our pension.

These are some jovenes (youth) that left with me to teach. We did divisions (splits) to have time to teach more people and I was with Kevin and Ivan (who is in the motorcycle)

Our service project was to clean part of a hill. We picked up trash.

Here is Elder Wetzker and me.

Here is me with a bit of a view.

More photos of the view.

Here is Elder Erickson and I. He is working in the office now and is pretty cool.

Today we went up in the teleferico (cableway) up the same mountain that we did service on with the zone!  We rode in one of these pod things, haha.

September 19, 2016 A Very Busy Week

September 19, 2016 A Very Busy Week

This week was very eventful... Very.

It started to get busy with a service that we did for a less active named Gaston. W helped him build part of a brick wall! It was fun! And super interesting to see how they do it!

After that, on Thursday I did splits with one of the assistants, Elder Olson. He was in this area at one point and we had a really good evening. He found some new people and visited a lot!

Over the next day my compaƱero got sick and was vomiting. The next day we had 11 visits that were for sure and my companion couldn’t get out of bed. I spent the morning trying find members to leave with me, and a member to stay with my companion for the evening. It was exhausting, haha, but we had some of our leccions in the morning and I visited them with another elder in the pension. In the morning I called the president’s wife and she told me to buy some things, some medicine, and so I went and bought that. After I found 4 members to leave with me and stay in the pension for both parts of the evening. It was super hectic but my comp ended up resting the day and I was so grateful for the members that left with me because we were able to visit the majority of our appointments.

We would have had 4 baptisms this week but they all fell through and weren’t at church. Kind of depressing but on the other hand a new investigator was in the church this week named Gabriel. He is 16 and he read what we left for him, the pamphlet and he is super awesome!

And yeah we all played capture the flag again and it was super fun, haha, but at one point I was being chased by 3 people and I was escaping and got grabbed by 4 thorny bushes, haha, and I couldn’t move. I said, “Ok ok just tag me”, and they tagged me then I said, “Ok now help me get out of here.”  Haha, But it was super fun!

That’s about all for this week. The time is flying and I’m trying to capture the moments as best as I can!

Love you all, and I’m so grateful for you, my family!

September 12, 2016 - That Dog Again

September 12, 2016 - That Dog Again

Hola, family!! I’m glad to hear that all is going well!

I received the package and I LOVED IT.  Haha ( the package with paracord! I carry the Burts Beez around with me and my shoelaces were about to break again right before I received the package. I now have paracord and it won’t break for a while! Muchas gracias! And I loved the letters!

Mom, I’m doing good! We are doing good, but our investigators are progressing super slowly. It’s tough to see right now and it’s hard for us when they don’t progress but it’s going well. Thank you for your words mom, they are a strength to me, and I will definitely start to put more trust in the Lord.

Bella I think I am engordando (fattening) a little! You can ask Mom what that means. Haha.  But I don’t know, maybe I will be more different! The weather here was super cold and now it’s super hot. It didn’t snow here but in the mountains there was snow! I heard about Matthew and I talked to him, too.  It’s pretty crazy!

Mom and Dad, I love you both so much and I am so grateful to have you guys as my parents, sincerely. I hope you both know that you are amazing parents!

Grandma! Thank you so much for your love and support, I love you and hope you are doing well!

This week was pretty exitoso, or successful, until sunday. We were teaching a lot and doing really good, we were really busy this week and had a lot of plans! Always good for missionaries but we struck out in the sacrament meeting. We didn’t have any investigators and it was hard because we were planning a baptism of a boy named Jose for this week. Now we have to put back his baptism and some other people too. We were blessed with the help of some members this week. We found some new families! Really exciting.

We had some family home evenings and we talked about the prodigal son. There is a Mormon message that talks about the other son and how he felt. It was super awesome!

A dog peed on me this week and but I just shooed it away and it took a lot in me not to kick it. Haha ( and this is coming from someone who loves dogs) haha but some dogs are the diablo here.

Also a little boy spit on my companion so we both have some stories to tell for this week.

I think that’s about it! Thanks again for the other packages and for the packages that you sent!

This is the hat that a Hermana (Sister) made us. It’s super warm.

We went to the San Lorenzo Creek again this week and this is a picture of us.

There was the same dog from last time. Haha.

This is pizza from Argentina. Kinda weird but I really like it now.

September 5, 2016 - A cold snap

September 5, 2016

Hey familia!

This week has been super cold, haha, and because of that it’s also been a difficult week for the investigators also.  We’re working a lot with the members, but we lost our baptism for this week and also next week because they weren’t in the church but we have faith that they still have this desire. Our numbers are getting a lot better than the last transfer so that is good! There were also some people that left us this week but we are getting references. The ward is awesome to work with and they help us a lot. The week passed by fast and well it wasn’t the best week but I’m trying to keep my hope up.

But all in all we are doing good. We have all gringos in the pension right now and it’s a little weird, haha, but pretty fun. We have a super new Elder from Utah, Elder Alred, and he’s super awesome.

One of the hermanas made us some beanies and they’re super warm, I will have to take a picture of it! Haha

But I don’t think there is a lot more that happened this week.

Thanks for your love and your counsel, it’s a strength to me :)

Elder Wolf

We built a cabinet this week almost all with my Leatherman. haha.

This is Elder Rudder and me.  It has been super cold here the past few days.

We ate in the pension today and had milanesa with French fries, I know super healthy... haha

I am learning to play the trompo (a spinning top).  You wind it up with a string and then throw it!

It snowed in the mountains and I love the way it looks, makes me feel at home!

We got new bunk beds and well it’s a lot better than what we had before

Here is the family Luna. There is a boy named Santiago who is getting ready to leave on a mission to Uruguay.

And this is the family Gutierrez they always help us and are super active.

A dog got on the bus with us and I took a picture with Elder Rudder. haha

August 29, 2016 - Dog on a Bus

August 29, 2016

I hope I put enough in my letters. Sorry that some of them are short. Haha.  There are a lot of things in the culture, and by this time I don’t think about how many differences there are because I am kind of used to it! Haha.  But I will try to look for the funny little things to share!  I'm very grateful for your little stories throughout the week! They make me smile!

This week was one of the most stressful weeks that I think I have had in the mission. Haha.  All good things though. I had to present my area. It was good! I know the area pretty well, and we never got lost, but to have a new companion is more than just the area. I had to plan practically every night, and I figured out how much planning elder Guzman and Elder Ferreira did for me. They almost did everything and now I understand more of the responsibility. We had a member accompany us each day, and I think I made more phone calls, than I have ever made in my life, Joking, but it was a lot. Haha.  I broke down a little bit, I prayed for help, because it’s hard to get used to juggling a lot of things at once. I know that we really saw the Lord’s hands in the work.

Elder Rudder is bueno. He is pushing me and helping me to become better. We watched a video of me teaching, a fake investigator. And I didn’t like how I taught, I got discouraged, because I want to teach like other missionaries, but I am still finding myself, and finding what functions for me. The language is better but there is still a bit of a barrier and a limit. He brought to my attention that I need to be a little more animated, and it’s true. It’s been a really humbling week, but I am grateful for his help and for the help of our Heavenly Father. I know he qualifies the people who are trying and I pray that he will continue to help me.

Our investigators are mas o menos (so-so).  Rita is ready but we have to work with her this week to have her baptism.
Our other investigators aren’t progressing a lot. Some of them are passing through some trials and we have explained the importance of the commandments many times. We have to find new ways to teach so that they can remember better. There are some of the neighborhoods here that we have never worked in. I am excited because I know they have potential too!

We learned how to knit. Haha.  And in the end of the day, I am working on making my own sock tie. Haha. The others in the pension are learning, too, and we look like a bunch oldies knitting.  Haha.

There are a lot of festivals right now. They have something called the day of the kids, and also they have a ton of festivals with the virgin. There were fireworks literally above our heads when we were walking one night. Haha.

One day, a dog was following us and we got into the bus, and when we looked behind us the dog followed us in the bus. Haha. It was pretty funny!

I hope you all have a good week!

Much love,
Elder Wolf
