February 13, 2017

This week was pretty good,

We got invited to dinner with Pablo and Veronica who are our investigators and they are so nice! They were able to make it to the church this Sunday and they said that they liked the church. We were so happy that they came and they always treat us super nice. We have talked a lot about the idea of baptism and I feel like they are slowly accepting it!

We were doing contacts and we found a house with a Batman in it. We asked if we could take a picture and the person was a little surprised and laughed. But she let us take a picture. Her husband is an artist and he made it.

We still are trying to find a lot of people. We find the people but they don’t progress that well. But we know that God is preparing people and it’s just our job to find them.

This week I wanted to share the scripture in Mormon 8:22. It talks about the Eternal Plans that God has, and that the plans will go forth until all his promises are fulfilled. I love this thought because we all have our free agency, but God’s plans are His plans and when He says something is going to happen, when He makes a promise, it doesn’t matter what we do, He is going to keep His side of His promise, and His eternal plans are so grand that we can’t even imagine where He is going with some of His plans. But He knows. He loves us and He just wants the best for us. I hope that makes sense. I feel like my English is really bad sometimes.

That’s about it for this week,

Love you all!

February 6, 2017 Lehi's Dream

February 6, 2017 Lehi's Dream

Hey all!

This week was good!

We just got transfers and I am staying in the area here in Tribuno with Elder Santana. I’m going to be here for about 6 months

We had an activity this Saturday, It was about the dream of Lehi and it went well. It was a great activity to strengthen the ward. We put a string outside that they had to follow with a blindfold, until they got to the tree of life. In the tree of life there was candy. There were people tempting them along the way and also someone like the Spirit to encourage them. They received direction to never let go of the line.

I got too to see some truths of this activity.  When the people started it was very quiet, and they just had to follow the string alone, and I thought that this path is like that at times. Sometimes we feel alone.  The other part was at the end of the path when the people were getting closer to the tree of life.  There were more temptations and almost everything was against them to get to the tree. Our lives are like that sometimes, too. When we are close to doing something good, or to reaching a goal, Satan is always going to be there tempting us and making it harder to reach our goal.

It was amazing to hear the testimonies of the members and what they got out of the activity

I got to hear the testimony of Guillermo Delgado (the last person that got baptized) this Sunday. And that is when I really got to see the fruits of the mission. It made me feel amazing to see the progression of these people and to hear that they are starting to have testimonies to share. I was going to be sad to leave this area.  For some of the families that means a lot to me but I stayed.

That’s about all for this week.

Love you all!

January 30, 2017

The changes are that, now we are focusing on key indicators (numbers) more for the people that are going to be baptized, the people in the church, and the new people that we find. Before we had to record the less actives that we visited and the recent converts, and the contacts. But they have eliminated some of the other numbers so that we focus more on finding people and baptizing. I think it’s good. It´ll help the members realize that the less actives and recent converts need to be visited by the members more than anything. We will still visit them but it won’t be the main focus.
This week was pretty good.

We have been able to find some more new people to teach and we have been really excited about that. This is the wealthiest area that I have been in and sometimes the people want nothing to do with us, but this week we have met a lot of really nice and kind people. I know it’s a blessing. We have been working a lot with people that the missionaries taught before, but we are finding their families or neighbors. We know that God is blessing us for our efforts.
A scripture I would like to share is in Mathew 6:24, It talks about how we can’t serve two gods, and it’s so true nowadays. It talks about how we have to serve God and not the things of the world.   Not having a telephone has made me appreciate more of the other experiences that there are to have. I didn’t realize how something like a phone could be something that we put before God sometimes. I think I understand the old people when they always complain about how the youth of today are just glued to the screens. God’s given us a lot of resources to use for good, and we just have to make sure that we don’t put these things before him.

Love you all so much!

This was the district watching the conference.

This is us in a jungle.  Jaja, mas o menos. We were finding new places in the area and we were so scared a witch was gonna come out and grab us.

January 23, 2017

Hello all!

It gets pretty hot, I don’t know the conversion but 28 Celsius is around 82 Fahrenheit, and in some areas it gets to 40 Celsius (104 Fahrenheit). haha

This week was better. We were able to contact some references, and we found another family that is part member. We hope to keep finding new people.

This week I went on divisions to an area called Santa Ana and it was fun! I like to get to know other areas. A dog tried to bite me again, haha, but it didn’t do anything. When I was in Santa Ana the last time was when the dog bit my pants. There’s something about when I go to this area, haha.

This week I wanted to share the scripture in 3 Nephi 9:22 that talks about the people who repent sincerely, like a child. I love this scripture because when we think about it a child is so sincere and innocent. I love it also because it says that if we do this we have the kingdom of God. There’s so many times that I think, God is probably just waiting to give us a blessing but He can’t because we don’t do what we need to do. I know he wants to bless us, and he will when we are striving to follow this gospel.

That’s about all

Love you all,

Elder Wolf

This week's photos didn't come with captions.  I assume the captions would be "Dog", "Us", and "Graffiti":

January 16, 2017 Trust, Hope, and Faith

January 16, 2017 Trust, Hope, and Faith

Hello All,

My new companion has been different than my other companions but everything is good. I have been trying my best to lead by example more than anything. I’m really proud of him for striving his best with me. He helps me to be a little more excited for some things, and I know that we are companions for a reason.

Wow that’s amazing that you could hear them [Elders D. Todd Christofferson and Todd S. Larkin] speak! I think the mission has given me a better outlook and perspective of when we have the opportunity to hear the voice of an apostle or prophet. It’s literally like we are hearing the voice of our Heavenly Father, because what they say is revelation and instruction that has been given to them through the spirit (the Lords messenger).

This week a scripture that caught my attention was Mosiah 5:8. I shared this scripture a couple times this week and loved that it talked about how the only way to get salvation is through Jesucristo. It explains how there’s no other title, or name by which we can be cleaned and get salvation. I also liked how it talked about how we have taken this name upon ourselves (those who have covenanted with him).  We always hear the people say, “Oh its ok, i just have the church in my heart and that’s good enough”, or they think, “Ï don’t need to go to church to be saved if I read the bible in my house”, or also that there’s a lot of ways to get saved, if they haven’t already gotten “saved”. It’s really interesting to me too see these different thoughts, but in reality the gospel gives us such a perspective that is clear. There’s no way that we can deny it.

We have been looking for a lot of people to teach this week and I was thinking this week, and through all the things that have happened I thought wow, the missionary pretty much run on trust, hope, and faith. That’s why sometimes it’s such a burden emotionally when we see the potential that people have and they don’t go through with what they say. All in all, I am grateful every day to be a missionary.

Thanks for everything and I hope everything goes well this week,

Elder Wolf

January 8, 2016

Hey, I love you all! I hope you just know that.

Its been raining a lot too over here. But I have been missing the snow. The weather getts really really hot and then it rains like crazy. It did that about three times this week.

This week has been a little hard. Its been interesting getting to have a new companion. We are helping each other out and learning a lot its so interesting how different my companions have been. What worked with one companionship doesn't work with the other, or things like that. It just shows me that we are all needing to learn something new.

This week has also been complicated with the investigators. We are working a lot with families that are part members. Honestly, with my companion we have had some of the most spiritual lessons but the investigators aren't accepting baptism dates.

I have been reading the Book of Mormon a lot more and have gotten near to the end of Heleman. I think it's interesting that it also talks about how the people were really interested in the things of the world, and something big had to happen to bring them back to God. Its made me think a lot about how we are in a completely different era, but humans are humans and we almost fall into this same pattern.

Some days are longer than others but I know we're blessed everyday. I know that our Heavenly Father protects us and loves us in all of our efforts. I'm glad to have a companion and people around me that help me to feel better, and to help me to carry on.

Hello Everyone,

The New Years here was pretty crazy! There were a lot of fireworks, and we got to go to the house of a family to eat with them. It went well.

Just yesterday, there was a huge, huge thunderstorm. Water started entering into the house but nothing got damaged. There was a lot of lightning, too. It was pretty crazy.

This week has been different. I am, again, with a companion that just left his training. We get along really well. I’m grateful for him and I’m excited because I want to learn Portuguese!  Also it’s very interesting because when a new elder comes to the area it’s like they bring blessings and new things, and honestly I have seen it. It’s interesting to figure out the gifts that the other elders have. I’m excited to learn from him but also progress with him.

This week was good. We have found some awesome investigators, Pablo and Veronica. They are a married young couple who are interested. Pablo has cousins and an uncle who are members. They are really nice super nice and I just know they would make great members.

There’s not too much more that happened this week. It was a little hard to talk or teach the people because everyone was with family or celebrating.

I love you all, and hope that you have a good week!
