We are about to receive a new President of the Mission. His last name is Orquera, and  he is from Buenas Aires. We are excited to receive him. This is the last week that we will have president Chaparro and we are a little sad that he's already going, but excited for the new president.

This week was good. We are preparing Albert for his baptism on Friday. He is so ready. Every time we see him, he is just another testimony to us that God prepares people to hear the gospel.

We are going to be making a jersey in the district.

This week we were also able to visit some less actives and we found some people that want to listen to us too and so that was awesome!

I was reading in Jacob chapter 7 and I had forgotten about this story with Sherem. I love how after Jacob had given Sherem a sign (in verse 22), that he could recognize that God had allowed him to be an instrument in His hands and that he could see the fruits of being couragous and having faith.

There's not too much that happened this week.

My companion and I are getting a long well!

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

This week has been long but short at the same time. We have seen a lot of miracles. 

I’m pretty excited for the district, I’m so grateful for all the elders that are in the district. Haha. It’s not that bad just a little more responsibility. This week we saw so many miracles. The golden investigator that we had, Albert, returned from Buenos Aires, and he called us to tell us that he wants to continue with the lessons! He accepted a baptismal date and is dedicated to learning more.

I have been so worried because as a leader I have to have an area that should be an example to the other areas, and well I have been worried that it won’t progress, but we are seeing so many things that just happen that are God’s hands in the work. I’m really excited for what this transfer will bring!

There’s not too much that has happened this week. I have gotten to know my companion better, and he is really cool. We are working pretty well together.

Today we ate Chinese food today and it was pretty good! I have missed a good stir fry from Mom, but sometimes for the good things in life, you gotta wait. Haha.

We have a conference tomorrow, and the assistants will be staying in our house today, that should be fun! Haha.  In a little bit we are going to go and clean it a little more. I´ll send you some pictures of some of the houses I have lived in. I found them on google maps

June 12, 2017 - Transfers

So today we had transfers. I received a companion from Peru. His name is Elder Vasquez. He is really cool. We like a lot of the same things and I’m excited to be working with him.

I am now going to be the District Leader here. It makes me a little nervous but I’m also excited. I love all the Elders that are here in the district, and I hope that I can be qualified enough to do what the Lord needs me to in this time. 

This week, we had stake conference and we had been inviting all the people that we could!  The thing is, here we have to make a plan that is very specific in how they are going to go to church! We had tried with some people and it just seemed like the harder we tried, the more people wouldn’t commit to anything. We offered to pass by and go with them but they didn’t want to go with us. They wanted to go with the members and so they were going to go with the members.  We made some plans and the day came and we were there in the church and no one was coming. The meeting started and nobody came. We were feeling pretty sad, and I just remembered that I had prayed. In my prayer I had asked that we could have some of our investigators there in the church, even if it was only one.  And I thought, “Well, it’s not that Heavenly Father didn’t hear my prayer,” and right then I felt a hand on my shoulder and I saw that it was Pablo, one of our investigators. He came with his dad and we were so happy to see them there. It was a strength to my testimony that sometimes we have to maintain our faith even when things don’t seem to go well.

The rest of this week was good. There was a moment also when I really didn’t know what the Lord wanted us to do. All of the appointments had fallen through and, well, we were walking around and I thought, “Well, let’s do some contacting.” We knocked on the first door, and a lady appears with a big smile on her face. That alone helped me feel better, because it doesn’t happen that often. Then she let us come in and have a lesson. I felt blessed to have had that experience.

The reality of everything is that these things are small things, but they are daily miracles that sometimes we overlook. It’s the Lord’s hand in our lives and at this point I will never be able to deny that I have a Heavenly Father that loves me, personally and every one of us, and hears our prayers, and also that everyone can feel of the perfect love that our Savior has for us.

This week was pretty normal!

We were able to find some new people to work with. A family accepted a baptism date. I know that we are blessed when we are courageous. Sometimes it scares us to invite them to baptism on the first appointment but really we have seen that God softens their hearts to be able to receive these blessings.

Something that I want to share that I learned is in the Bible. I have been reading more in the Bible. I really like to watch the Bible videos and then find the passage that talks about the story. It helps me to make the Bible more real and to also remember better. I really liked the story of the conversion of Saul to Paul and the road to Damascus. The story is in Acts 22 and it talks about how Saul was doing bad things until He saw Jesus and he was changed (obviously) his vision was then healed by Ananias and he started to do better with his life.

I was then thinking about how he had to literally see Jesus to change his ways.

I then thought about when Jesus appeared to his apostles, and when the apostle Thomas didn’t believe that he had come again. He was a living apostle and he doubted. He too needed to see to believe. It’s in John 20:24-29. Jesus then showed himself and of course Thomas believed. Jesus used this moment to teach a lesson and said the blessed are they that believed without seeing.

I love this lesson because this is what we do. We use our faith to believe without seeing. When we have faith, how great is this faith! How powerful of a thing it is, to believe and feel the blessings of our faith. How many people saw miracles of Jesus and still didn’t believe that he was the Christ?

I love learning more about my savior every day, and I am so blessed to be able to share this knowledge.

This week was really fun! We had a ward activity because it was their revolution day here. That’s when we ate humita.

This week we have been working a lot with someone that has a really strong addiction to drugs. It’s been really hard but we were able to make a lot of goals for him and we felt the spirit really strong when we could kneel with him and say a prayer. It sometimes amazes me that the gospel has all the keys to be able to help us with any type of problem and we are the messengers. That fills me with so much happiness that we get to bring this message to the people here.

This week we also were able to have an activity with a family that has been less active. The Dad is going through some problems and was grateful that we could be there to have a little bit of fun. We also watched some Mormon messages.

Not to scare anyone or you guys but after church we were walking and we almost got robbed. Two guys started yelling a little and then he took out a gun and well started to wave it. The first thing I thought was that there is noooo way that I’m going to get robbed right now... I knew I wasn’t going to run and well, haha, I just kept walking and I thought well we can just talk to them. We started talking to them and they told us that it was more of a joke and that they like that we talk about god and they believe in god too. I ended up asking them where they were going with a gun and he just said that they are really caught up in drugs and that they just carry it with him.

Moral of the story is that we are always protected! We hear of someone that gets robbed on the daily, and it’s sad and scary at times, but I can’t tell you guys how much I believe in the protection of our Heavenly Father. Nothing ever happens to us and even when this happened we were able to talk and nothing happened. It’s not a coincidence that we have so much protection. Just know that we are all fine and that we trust in and know that the protection from the heavens is real.

We went to san Javier today and it was freezing but it was really fun! It’s a mountain that overlooks the city and it has a Christ statue

We also found about three new investigators this week that have accepted a baptism date. One of the family members got baptized a while ago and they remember the missionaries

These are pictures from an activity with a food called humita. It’s like a corn soup. Really Yummy!

  

  

We did a family home evening with the Salas family. We made a cake! The dad isn’t a member. It was really fun and I think they enjoyed it.

  

This is a soup that they make a lot here. It’s called locro and it has almost every part of the cow, pig and sometimes chicken. It’s got some weird cuts of meat but it’s really yummy too!

Hey fam!

This week was good. There wasn’t something too huge that happened. 

Turns out that Albert, our golden investigator, had to go to Buenos Aires and doesn’t know if he will return. That was a little sad, buuuut it happens.

We have been filtering through the new people that we have found.  Seeing if they have some potential. We have a lot of hope for the people that we have found.

Pedro is doing really well. He got the priesthood and he is going to be a counselor in the young men. He got to learn more about why we don’t baptize people when they are born.  We explained it to him.  He then came with us to a lesson and just then the lady asked us about this principle and he was able to explain it a little bit to her. We helped him know that things like that happen a lot. When we study and gain knowledge, God helps us to be able to share it.

Other than that, we have been looking for a lot of people that would be willing to listen to us. We have been able to have lessons in other parts of the area. That helps us to feel like we are going to new places and finding out where the chosen people are! haha

It was so fun to talk to you guys! I told Elder told that what we talked about didn't matter to me but just to be able to see you guys and laugh with you all, made it all worth it. I hope you all know how much I love you. :) 

Like I said, this week we were able to find a lot of people, and we are going to be working with Albert a lot. I would have sent a picture of the tortillas and facturas but we didn't buy any. I'll make sure to get some pictures!
