December 25, 2017

Christmas here is still always so weird. I still don’t feel like it’s Christmas.... haha buuut oh well.

It has been good though. They celebrate Christmas with La Noche Buena. And so yesterday there was a lot of fireworks, and we ate BBQ with some members.

This week we had our Christmas conference and it was great. We did a white elephant gift exchange. I got a remote control car... just my luck haha.

Today was fun, we got together with the district and we ate pancakes and fruit and then we did a gift exchange.

We had a really awesome investigator come to church. His name is Nicolas and he got to go to one of the open churches. We are hoping that he will be able to progress.

Like I said, I loved seeing you guys yesterday and it’s so crazy to think how that was my last and how the time has flown by.

Love you all,
Elder Wolf

December 18, 2017

This week was good. We have some awesome investigators but we are just trying to help them progress. One is the Gonzales Family. Angel Gonzales went to church this week.  He told us that he has already made the decision to get baptized but he would need to get married first.

We are working with a lot of other people too.

It’s been hard this week to have time in the area. We have had to go to some other areas that are more than an hour away to do interviews and help them out, and we have just had stuff all this week. I love being able to help when people need us, but it makes it a little harder to be in the area and work with the investigators.

The packages got here and I can’t believe that Christmas is this next week. It has come too fast! But we are looking forward to it!

We are preparing for a Christmas conference that we are going to have. That should be really fun!

That’s about it!

I loove you all! I’ll try to send some pictures.

December 11, 2017

December 11, 2017

This week was full of miracles. As always the mission is a rollercoaster, just gotta remember that when you go down you´ll come up again.

I think this week we saw a lot of opposition. And it’s ok because we just thought, “Well there are better things waiting for us.”

One lesson we had was a big testimony for us.  Earlier in the last week, we talked a lot to this family about going to church. They said they usually can’t because they play soccer. We promised them that if they looked for a way and prayed and asked for a way to go God would give them a way. We asked what they were going to do. They said, we are going to pray so that the game gets changed. We were surprised and thought wow, that’s a lot of faith. But we said, its ok, we want you to be praying for that and we will be praying for that too. That Sunday, they didn’t show up to church. We went to their house and asked them what happened. They said, oh we got up late, and then it was raining so much that they canceled out soccer game. Both of our jaws just dropped. They had been praying but in the moment forgot and didn’t realize that God answered their prayers. We talked to them and reminded them of what they had asked for. Their jaws dropped, too. It was a very spiritual experience, and we said well if that wasn’t a sign that God wants you to go to church, we don’t know what is. :)

We also found a family this week. The man of the house had gone to church a couple times and really liked it. We went to his house and talked to him. He had an old triple, (BoC, D&C, and PoGP) and he says that he reads it every day before work, and he notices that when he doesn’t read it, he doesn’t have a good day. He accepted a baptism date and he will need to be married. His name is Angel.

This week we got rained on a lot. We got stuck in a rain storm one day and we went into an ATM. It was better for coverage, buuuut there were also about 7 dogs in there hiding from the rain too, and it smelt like wet dog pretty heavily. It was a funny experience.

We´re having a lot of fun figuring out all the stuff for Christmas in the mission.

That’s about it,

I love you all!

December 3, 2017

This week might have been one of the most tiring weeks in my whole mission.  haha

Monday was transfers and there was an elder who was waiting for his companion so we stayed at his house. It is about 45 minutes from our house) and then Tuesday we had district meeting and we also stayed at the other elders’ house for the night.

Wednesday I had to go to physical therapy for my ankle. It’s doing a lot better. Then that evening we met some new people to teach. Including a family called the Fernandez family. They accepted a date to be baptized.

Thursday we traveled to another area to verify their planning, about an hour away. They were doing good.

Friday we had a meeting with all the zone leaders. It went to about 3 o clock and then we went to go work in our area.  When we were in the street a dog jumped out and bit my comps arm, so that was crazy!  We went to a clinic, and then to the hospital to get him some shots and get it cleaned. We got to ride in a police car!  Always wanted to do that!

Saturday we had to meet with the zone and present the Initiative Ilumina el Mundo (Light the World Initiative). It was fun to be with the zone. We are really happy with all the missionaries that are here in the zone.

After lunch on Saturday, we helped out with an open church in another area. We contacted a lot of people and then we talked to a couple and started talking about what we believe in. We read a scripture in the book of Mormon and the lady started to cry. We talked to her about how the scriptures help us to feel better. We talked some more and then she stopped us and asked if we could read it again. We read 2 Nephi 25: 23-26.  She started crying more and explained that they were going through a hard time, and she has been looking and waiting for something like this. It was probably one of the most spiritual contacts I have ever had.  After 3 attempts they finally accepted the Book of Mormon, and what to learn more.

On Sunday we had 5 people in the church, all five were miracles! A young kid named Walter came on his own and then an investigator that we had also came. Eugenia. We are excited for them.

That’s about it.

Today we got together as a district and ate milanesa napolitana con papas. It’s a breaded piece of beef that you put tomato sauce and cheese on top, and we ate it with french fries.  We played sports after.

Love you all! I’m enjoying being companions with Elder Baker and enjoying being here. :)

So this is us in a police car, because a dog jumped out of a house and bit my companions arm. It was pretty crazy.

Then this is today. We made lunch with the whole district!

November 27, 2017

I totally forgot that thanksgiving already passed. Really the mission is a blur sometimes.

The baptisms didn’t happen this week. I am very grateful for my companion and his hard work. He really tried hard so that the baptisms could happen but they ended up falling through.

This week went by flying. We had to travel to some other areas to help them and to do some interviews, and between that and going to doctors, the time got filled up quick. It was a hard week for work in the area.  But I am really excited for these weeks. I feel and know that there is a lot of potential in the area, and we have some great investigators we are working with.  One is named Eugenia, she was a referral from a sister in the ward and is great! She is preparing to be baptized and she realizes what she has to do and is willing to make those changes.

I am now with Elder Baker from Wisconsin. He’s really awesome and I know that we´ll be working really well together.

I think that’s about it!

Love you all too!

The one that is closest to me is my new companion. His name is Elder Baker. He is from Wisconsin. He’s really awesome and I’m excited to be with him for this transfer.

Here is a picture of the city at night.

This is a girl that always helps us out a lot in the mission work, her name is Karen

Here are some Elders from an area called Cafayate.  They are amazing elders and have recently started a branch there. We got to visit them and help them out for a day. Elder Baum is from Houston Texas (blond hair) and the other one is Elder Towns.

My comp and I.  This is a picture of us one the way to Cafayate.

A picture on the way to Cayafate.

Some amazing scenery and when we got there. It takes about 4 hours to get there

November 20, 2017

November 20, 2017

This week has been a little difficult. At the beginning of the week my ankle got a lot worse.  I had to go to the doctor and he told me that the insoles that I use are like already really worn out. He told me to rest for 15 days putting ice on my ankle and not doing too much walking. I have to do some physical therapy and I have to see if I can get some better insoles.  I have had to stay in the pension for these last few days, and it has been soooo boring... haha

I was able to finish the Book of Mormon this week on the 14th, and it was amazing. I was able to pray and I felt a confirmation, like always that it is true. This time around I remember a lot of moments when I read a verse or a part and I could feel the Spirit really strong. It’s amazing but I felt a little sad because I didn’t write down the parts that made me feel that way. Sooo I started the BoM again, and this time I have a list of scriptures that I am writing down when I feel a strong spiritual confirmation.  Some moments from when i have started again are...
-the testimony of Joseph Smith when he describes the angel Moroni (loved that part)
-1 Nephi 1:9-10 (Lehi sees Jesus and the 12 apostles in a vision)
-1 Nephi 10:4 (also testifying of the Messiah)
-1 Nephi 13: 28-29 (talking about the story and fate of the bible)

A funny thing that happened this week is that we got back from interviews with president, and I changed my pants, and I took off my tie. We then went to go get lunch, and we were walking and my companion started laughing at me, and I said, “What?” And he said, “Your tie!” I looked down and i forgot to put a tie on and so when we went to lunch.  I was pretty embarassed... haha I explained and they understood.  :D

This week for the first time I saw light bugs. We looked down a little creek and say like all these lights twinkling. I got to hold some and it was fascinating to me!

We are hoping to have 2 baptisms this weekend. And I’m grateful for my companion. This is his last week in the mission but he’s been helping me out a lot with my ankle and has been working hard.

That has been about it for this week!

Love you all! :)

This is a picture of a kid who has been staying with me while my companion goes to the visits.

Also a picture of my reading of the Book of Mormon.

Also a picture of today. There was a service project and well we went to that. I couldn’t do much. I just watched but the members are really great. One of the members went and got some of the medicine that I needed and that we hadn’t gotten yet.

These are pictures of the meeting of zone leaders and a picture of the whole mission.

November 13, 2017

Hey all,

This week has been good, and pretty busy.

Elder Christensen and Elder Bragg came with their wives and visited the whole mission. We had a mission conference. It was great. I got to see a bunch of my old companions and see other missionaries.

One thing that they talked about a lot is the ability to dominate the doctrine. How being representatives we have to be informed and well-studied about everything.

This has been something that we have seen a lot this week. In a lot of our lessons and contacts that we had people will try and put doubts in our head and will try to twist and change what comes from the real gospel of Jesus Christ. We saw that a lot this week, and I could feel the spirit when I testified of the restoration and the things that I know.

We also got to visit some elders and attend their planning session. It’s always nice to see the efforts of the Elders and Sisters in the zone.

We are trying to work with a lot of people but it’s hard to find them at home. We find a lot of people to teach here, but getting to the point to have daily contact or even more than once a week contact is getting to be hard. All the people are important but I feel like there are people even more prepared for us to teach. We are actually going to be visiting a sister that is the granddaughter of a member. She is about 35 years old, and she came to church this Sunday. She said she really liked it. Her name is Eugenia.

That’s about it for this week.

Love you all!

November 7, 2017

Hey, Family!

This week was good. We worked a lot trying to find new people to teach, like always. I feel like I’m always saying that but it’s true.  We are looking for people that are going to progress.

This week we invited a lot of people to church and a lot said they were going to come. Some of the people couldn’t make it but we were able to go to church with 4 young adults that are 3 sisters and one brother. They really liked the church, and then some members were able to bring people to church.

I got to go on exchanges this week with the companion of Elder Damron. He is new in the mission, Elder Parker. He’s awesome and it was great. I did an interview of one of their baptisms that they had this week.

Something interesting,   Here they are trying to get Halloween started but it’s not very big at all. They mostly just use it as an excuse to have parties. I mean it’s the same in the US but at least they give us candy in the neighborhoods. A bunch of people here are anti-Halloween because they think it’s like from the devil, haha. I tried to explain that’s its really just a tradition in the US, but they are convinced that it’s from the devil... haha.  It made me remember when we went trick-or-treating!

Also soccer games here are craaaazy! like the other day there was a soccer game between two big teams here, and when something happened in the game we heard like the whole neighborhood scream from in their houses! And then after they went parading in the streets with their cars and motorcycles.

Other than that it has been a pretty chill week.

October 30, 2017

Hey Family!

This week has been a good week.

Sunday I had to give the Gospel Principals lesson, and it was about the gathering of Israel. I was so nervous and we just started to read a little bit, but we started talking a little bit and then it got better. I also have a testimony that Heavenly Father prepares us for certain things. I had just passed through a scripture that I liked in 3rd Nephi that talks about the gathering of Israel when Jesus was in the Americas.3rd Nephi 17:4 talks about how Jesus Christ will also help in this Gathering, But for now what we learned in the class is that mission work is the biggest thing we can do to help the gathering of Israel.

This Sunday we left in the morning to look for a lot of people to come to church with us, but nobody wanted to. It was something concerning us, and the whole morning I was just praying in my heart that we could have at least 1 person in the church. We sat down and sacrament started. We saw a family that is partial members. They came but at first we didn’t see our investigator. We kept on hoping that they would be come. Then about 5 minutes after they came in 3 of our investigators, and another one came a little later. We were really happy and we felt so grateful for what we could see that God did for us.

It was the same with the example of the blocks last week. I think there were blocks that we felt we couldn’t lift and we felt a little bit sad, but we did what we could and I know that it’s because we practiced the faith that we had to ask for what we were worried about in this time.

Talking about the same theme, I also really liked a scripture in 3rd Nephi when Jesus was ministering to the people. In 3rd Nephi 14:7-12, it talks about how we just need to ask God if we are in need of something. It’s really that simple, and the example that he uses is that if someone has a child and if this child asks for bread would they give him a rock? If they had a heart, of course not. Haha. And that our Heavenly Father is the same with us. He wants to bless us with what we need and He’s not just going to give us a rock. I loved this example, and I know that all it takes is a little bit of faith.

That’s about all for this week! Love you all!

Here are some pictures of us today, when we went to San Bernardo.

These are pictures of us in the area.

Also something that we ate, called filled squash, it was really good,

We also had an activity of the Tree of life,

This is us this morning eating breakfast with the district.

October 23, 2017

The last Monday was a holiday here, of what, I don’t know, buuuut because of that the computer places were not open.

Well there were transfers, and I got transferred back to Salta Capital! My new ward and area is called Palermo, and I will be serving here as Leader of the Zone.

I am with an Elder Roman. He is from Asuncion Paraguay.

I’m really excited to be here in the new area.  Elder Roman is a hard worker and as a nice little welcoming to the area, we were able to find some new people to teach. Im pretty excited for them, and there are some great investigators that we have.

A big joy about returning to Salta is being able to see people that I got know and converts that we had here. I have loved getting to know the ward and seeing people from my other areas.

This week has been really busy, and we have a lot of meetings coming up with President. I was scared to be leader of the Zone, and still am, but I see everyday how the Lord qualifies us. I hope to be ready when the Lord needs me.

Not too much else happened this week. :) My whole mission has been Tucuman and Salta, but I love it, and we´ll see this might be my last area.

Also we are so close to the mountains. Our area is higher up in the city, and when we are just walking in the area we can see the city lights from downtown Salta.

Love you all so much! So awesome hearing from you guys and what all goes on!

Elder Wolf

This was an activity of a mini-MTC.  These are youth from the whole stake.  I got to see Ariel Delgado, and some of the other youth from Tribuno. Elder Damron is in the Zone now!

Here are some pictures of the Area, and some pictures with Elder Roman.
