Hey Family!

Hope you guys are all well!

This week was good!

It was pretty normal. We are working with a Mikaela. She wants to get baptized and we are just waiting for her to get married with her boyfriend.

We found a family this week that is really nice! One of the ladies accepted a baptism date and so we are working with her. About 10 years ago was the last time that missionaries came to their house and we happened to contact their house and know them.

A little spiritual thought: Alma 26:22.  While reading the Book Of Mormon, I really liked this scripture because it talks about repentance. But it says a lot of really awesome things. I like it because it shows us how we can apply the atonement to ourselves and then use it for the mission work. It says that if we pray diligently, and repent we will be able to bring thousands of people to the gospel. I think that that’s an amazing promise that we have and I think and invite all of us to try and apply that in our own lives so that we can help others to have the same peace and joy that we have.

Love you all!

Here is a picture with Elder Kanan. He is in another area of the district, and we had exchanges one day.

This is a picture of “dulce de batata.” It translates to the “sweet of sweet potato” or something like that. It’s like a brick of that (sweet potato) but they eat it here as a desert. They eat it with a cheese. I thought it was the weirdest thing at first but I got used to it and now I really like it! We bought some and I have been eating it. You eat it just like that. A slice of both and then you put them together.

This is a picture of a conference in the stake center that we had with the stake here. I saw Exequiel Trejo and his girlfriend there, and also Elder Santana. We had to take a picture, and so here it is. I love them both.

August 21, 2017

Hey all,

I can’t believe how quick the time passes by. I think my date that I get home is April 3. I think it got moved up or something. It must be when the transfer is.

This week was an interesting week. We had to go to Salta to do some customs paperwork for my companion. We had to travel to Salta 4 hours and then 4 hours back. It was a little tiring, but all good.

This week we also had an activity. We are trying to help the wards help support the mission work with some activities. I had asked a lot of people if they had seen Meet the Mormons and they said, “No.” I thought, “Whaaaat? But you’re Mormon!” haha.  And so we had an activity with that!  We made popcorn and we had soda there and well we watched Meet the Mormons. It was good and about 20 people had shown up. Some of them brought their friends.

More than that, this week went by really quick and we are continuing to teach some people and look for more!

Much love!

Here is a picture of Elder Andersen and me in the train tracks of our area.

Also this is a picture of the movie night activity that we had. We watched Meet the Mormons.

This picture is of when we had to go to Salta this week for some paperwork with customs for my companion.

A member of one of the wards gave us ties and so now itis the tie of our district! this is a picture of us.

August 14, 2017 What? That luz?

August 14, 2017

Hey All!

This week was pretty normal.

We had a zone conference and that was good. We also had interviews with the President. He usually has to travel about 4 hours to just have interviews with the Missionaries in Tucuman. The mission is pretty big.

We are trying to have some more activities here in the ward to get the members more involved.
This weekend we have a movie night that is going to be with Meet the Mormons.

We are teaching a girl named Mikaela and she wants to be baptized. We are helping her to get married to her boyfriend but we have a lot of hope for her.

I’m sorry if sometimes my English is like a two-year-old. Haha.  It’s a little embarrassing sometimes.

We eat lunch with a young couple that wants to learn English. They are both returned missionaries, and so every time we pray in English, and then we learn Spanish while they learn English with us. It’s really fun but this last time the sister told me to say ¨que? esa luz´ which would be ´´What?  That light?´ she wanted me to say it to see how we pronounce the t´s at the end of words, but  when I went to say it, I said ¨what? that luz?” and we all started laughing. It gets my mind mixed up at times.

That’s about it though.

Love you all!

This was a zone picture and well it was a little bit disorganized, but fun.

These are pictures from today. These are some people that played soccer with us. They are from one of the wards.

Then this is a picture from the district with our new jerseys.  “La M.A.S.” is “The Mission Argentina Salta” and “SUD” stands for “Santos de los Ultimos Dias,” which would be the Latter Day Saints, or LDS in English.

August 7, 2017 ¿d'dnde sovos?

August 7, 2017

Hey all!

(We asked Jacob how it’s going with his new companion.  This paragraph is what he wrote in response) I love my companion. He’s just so sweet and filled with hope and faith. It’s something that has helped me realize how much faith I still lack sometimes.  There are always things here that the missionaries get to know. For example the mornings are just horrible to proselyte. But my companion with his faith is helping me to have faith in moments like that when I think that the things are impossible.

This week was good. Also a little trying, but I’m loving the time with Elder Andersen (from Utah).  He’s super awesome, and he’s getting the hang of Spanish pretty quickly! I’m impressed! But I also feel for him. When we are in some of the more humble parts, the people are harder to understand, and well I also started out here in Tucuman and the same thing happened to me. It was hard to understand because there accent here is really strange.

For example we learn in the MTC that when they ask us “¿de donde es?” we tell them where we are from. Here they say “¿de donde sos vos?” and it means the same thing, but sometimes it sounds more like, “¿d´dnde sovos?”

We have a lot of investigators but they aren’t progressing that much, so we are helping them to understand our purpose, and looking for new people to teach!

That’s about it for this week.

Love you all!
