October 31, 2016 "Now the next thing is baptism."

October 31, 2016  "Now the next thing is baptism."

This week has been pretty chill. Except for that a dog tried to bite me. Haha. We were doing divisions (splits) and we knocked on the front gate of someone and this dog came running up to us from a fence of another house and I thought, “Oh, he doesn’t look that happy.” I tried to shoo it away by saying “cheh!” because that’s what everyone here says, but then it went behind me and tried to bite me. Haha.  Scared the stuff out of me, but it just got my pants, and well I walked around the rest of the day with my leg out. Haha. I just took a few deep breaths and thought... “It’s ok, it’s ok.” Haha. I was pretty frustrated but grateful that it didn’t get my leg.

Other than that, I got assigned a talk in sacrament on Friday and It was about the mission work. I wasn’t as stressed as I would have been before because somehow I felt like I was being prepared to give this talk. I tried to get the ward a little more excited about mission work, and I was really grateful for the opportunity I had to talk.  The story I used was of Alma and Amulek, how Alma is like us as missionaries because we are strangers in a new place, and how Amulek is like the members because he knew people and had connections. I think it talks about his reputation in Alma 10:4. But I talked about how they worked together to have a little more success, because Alma was going to leave Ammonihah.

I think we are going to switch pensiones (apartments) soon. We are living out of our area and it’s hard for us to travel each day. But there is a really awesome house like 2 blocks from the church that we are looking into. I hope we get it.

This week we have been working a lot with Diego. He is the man that just got married. We went to his wedding and we were walking with him and he is the one that told us, ´´Now the next thing is the baptism´´ and we were super excited. He is getting baptized this week and I am looking forward to a big baptism with the ward and all.

We are also teaching Juan Pablo. He has 18 years and he is in a wheelchair but he is awesome he wants to get baptized but his family is really Catholic. The ward has helped us a lot with the transportation and with accepting him and making him feel comfortable. I have been really impressed.

We have found a few new people to teach but we’ll see how it goes with them.

Overall I’m doing good, trying to be the leader and the missionary that I’m supposed to be and who the lord wants me to be.

Love you all!

Elder Wolf

We assisted a wedding. The man is Diego and he is going to get baptized this week. This is the family Silva and they are so awesome!

This is us with a member, Markos.  Just a picture of us going to some visits.

I knew the day would come... A dog tried to bite me and well, lucky me it just got my pants. I was pretty frustrated but it’s just some things that happen in the mission haha.

This is a new investigator, Miguel, and he is super awesome. This never happens but he asked for a picture on the first visit and we said, why not??

October 24, 2016

Hey Family!

We were rejected a lot this week. We did some more contacts and well we had some really good contacts but a lot fell through and we didn’t end up meeting with them. We always joke around, Elder Damron and I. We laugh a lot and we try to keep our spirits up when things happen!

We have been preparing some people in the family Silva for their baptisms, not this week but the one to come! They are getting married this week.  And the man has his nephews that are also going to get baptized! We are so excited for them, and they are such a good family. We are trying to work better with the ward to further the work.

That’s about it, we are progressing each week, and we can see the fruits of our labors.

I love you all!

Elder Wolf

We ate empanadas in the iglesia for lunch one day. We were laughing at something haha.

We went to the teleferico again with the zone.

Here’s Corey and me.

Oct 17, 2016 - The Wonderful and the Weird

October 17, 2016 - The Wonderful and the Weird

Wow the weather has been crazy huh? The weather here is getting really hot. We just bought some hats

They have here rice with milk (with sugar) and it’s like a dessert. It reminds me of ris ala mande.

This week was pretty good. I’m enjoying getting to know the ward and we have been working hard to find new people. We have been working with an investigator, Ariel. He is super awesome and he got baptized this week. We taught him but he goes with his uncle on the weekends and so he goes to a different ward. This meant that we taught him but he wasn’t going to be part of our ward. I worried about this and I was a little bit sad that we weren’t going to see this baptism and have him in our ward, but we worked with the sister missionaries, and we got permission to go and help in his baptism. Elder Damron got to baptize him for his first baptism in the mission and we were so excited to be a part of his baptism. We are currently teaching his dad and cousins too and they are really awesome!

We also have been teaching someone named Juan Pablo. He has accepted the teachings and has been a perfect investigator. He is 18 years old and is in a wheel chair.  We got some members to help us take him to church. He has accepted a baptism date and he has been progressing a lot. I was really happy with the people who greeted him in the church. Other than that, this week we ate in a restaurant that a member payed for. It was really nice of them and it was really yummy! We ate empanadas! Elder Damron and I are working really well together. He’s super awesome and we laugh a lot.

Weird experiences:

We were looking for a member that lived in an old persons’ home and it was a little scary. Haha.  They let us in then we couldn’t find the people that worked there. We were surrounded by older ladies that were just staring at us... Haha.  We looked for the brother and we couldn’t find him and then we returned and asked for help.  We found him and I think he’s one of the most sane people there. One of the old ladies asked me for food and I didn’t have anything to give her sadly. Then we left with the brother, haha.

Also just last night I guess there’s like an old wives’ tale that says that if you rub the belly of a frog on your acne on your back it’ll go away. I would never try this, but a young man that lives next to us asked one of the elders to help him and, well, I wasn’t going to pick up the frog but elder Brown did and well he helped the guy out and apparently it worked, haha.

That’s about it!

Love you all
Elder Wolf

Here is 2 of our investigators, Iziquiel and Guillermo.

And today we bought sombreros for the sun because we have been burning a little bit. Haha

October 10, 2016 - The new area

October 10, 2016 - The new area

The new area is super bueno. I like it a lot, buuuut its more richer... the work is a little difficult because of that. When I got here we didn’t really have anybody to work with, but we are working to find people. There is a family, Silva, that is super awesome. The son and the dad are both working towards their baptism.

I am happy that I have the opportunity to work with Elder Damron. He is from Utah and has a little fewer months in the mission than me. We get along really well, and we both want to work a lot. We are really seeing the fruits of our obedience and our efforts. We walk a lot we have contacted a lot this week. One day we get rejected a lot and it was hard, but we managed to keep our animo (spirits) up, and we both knew that we were being prepared for something better. I know that sometimes we go through difficult times so that when we pass through the good times they are that much sweeter. We have been finding a lot of people who are interested, and I am really excited for the work and the impact that we are going to make in the area.

I am in a pension of 4 again. Haha. Also I think we are going to be moving pensions. We will see.

The patriarch (for the area) is in our ward and we ate lunch with him. I think it was one of the most spiritual lunches that I have had here. The spirit was so strong in their house and when we shared a scripture it was there also.

But everything is good.  It’s still getting hotter here!

Thank you again for the packages, I am going to love them!

Much love Elder Wolf :)

October 3, 2016 - General Conference and Transfers

October 3, 2016 - General Conference and Transfers

Woooow the snow! It’s super weird to think that it’s snowing over there! It’s definitely warming up here. A lot... Haha, but it’s ok, the people are always willing to give us a glass of water! We have a big fan in the pension and we have asked for air conditioning, too, haha.

Transfers, we got our transfers!!! I am moving areas! I will be in the other zone of Salta as the senior companion. My companion, Elder Rudder, is going to train an elder, and he is super excited. I’m super excited too to go to this new area. But also I’m a little nervous, haha, like always. But I know I can do it and I’m grateful for the opportunity to step up a little more. I’m going to be with an elder from Utah. I believe his name is spelled Damron. I have talked with him before and he seems like a really nice elder. I’m looking forward to working with him.

We got to see the General Conference in the stake center. They had a room for the missionaries to listen in English. I enjoyed it a lot and there were some really good talks. One of the talks that I loved is that of one of the Seventy that talked about how we need to stop comparing ourselves to others and that the only opinion that matters is the opinion of our Heavenly Father.   I also loved the talk about the mission work and how every member and missionary is working to solve this puzzle. Everyone has a piece of the work to do! Yes, mom, I loved that talk too. That we are here to find JOY - really that’s the point and I love that he explained how we can be in different situations but we can still feel joy. This gospel really is something that the world can’t destroy, when we have internalized these principals, I know that we can find joy in any circumstance. Such a great talk. I really enjoyed the conference, and we managed to have 5 investigators in the conference between the 4 sessions.

I got some letters from a group from Girls Camp. Sister Dobbs sent me the letters and they were really nice. :) It’s always nice to receive a little note, haha.

I am sure that Elder Rudder will continue to do great in the area and I am excited to hear about the people that get baptized!

I’m looking forward to the new area. I have heard that it’s a little richer and so we will see how the people are. I have heard it’s a great barrio and I’m really excited. Hopefully I stay in this area for a little longer than 2 transfers.

I’m doing good, though, I have to pack and that’s about it they are going to start to do transfers on Tuesdays. I think that’s all the news for this week.

Love you all,

Elder Wolf :)

Here we are at the house of Santiago Luna and he had a little dog that I just couldn’t resist.

This is a view.
